Having been out of work for 9 months, and being down to my last month of unemployment, I decided to try something totally different.
On November 7th, 2008, I decided to go into Manhattan and hand out my resume on the street. My daughter suggested I put on a sandwich board to get people to pay attention.
She said if I just handed out my resume, people might think they were advertisements or lunch menus, and wearing a sign with something to get people’s attention would be more effective.
So, off I went on the Metro North Hudson Line train during rush hour carrying my sandwich board.
